A Night to Remember: The 2024 15 Percent Pledge Gala Highlights Kelly Rowland, Jordyn Woods, Claire Sulmers, Aurora James, and More in Show-Stopping Designs!

For the first time ever, the third annual 15 Percent Pledge gala took place in Los Angeles at Paramount Studios, showcasing a celebration of Black excellence with celebrities in attendance. Aurora James, the Creative Director and activist behind the pledge, initiated this movement to encourage retailers to dedicate 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned brands. So far, over 28 retailers have taken the pledge, shifting nearly $14 billion in revenue to Black businesses.

Major companies like Nordstrom, Sephora, Vogue, and Bloomingdales are among those who have committed to the pledge, with more joining the cause.

Claire Sumers, CEO of Fashion Bomb, attended the event dressed in a Matopeda gown from Nigeria, which is available at FashionBombdailyshop.com. She mingled with industry stars, including Kelly Rowland, who dazzled in a Mohamed Benchellal gown with a modern silhouette, accessorized with gold statement earrings and lioness rings.

Tracey Ellis Ross wore a Fear of Gold fur coat cinched with a leather belt and paired with mocha Saint Laurent heels. Aurora James, the star of the night, wore a Christopher John Rogers ensemble with a cream cropped blouse adorned with a teal 3D flower and a matching avant-garde skirt, completed with teal strappy sandals and Bulgari jewels.

Jordyn Woods chose a neutral design from Los Angeles-based Harbison.Studio, featuring multi-colored buttons and black gloves for a “black-tie” effect. She also took selfies with Claire, recalling their time together during Paris Fashion Week.

Emma Grede, Chairwoman of the 15 Percent Pledge and Co-founder of Good American, wore a striking black Aliette blazer dress with a 3D organza rose. She welcomed guests, including model Ashley Graham in an emerald green sequined and feathered gown with cutouts.

Sabrina Idris opted for an elegant Kwame Adusei maxi dress, while media personality Angela Rye shone in a futuristic gold Dolce & Gabbana outfit with a corset bodice. Monique Rodriguez, CEO of Mielle Organics, stood out in a vibrant Christopher Rogers dress complemented by a Judith Leiber clutch.

The 15 Percent Pledge is crucial for ensuring that major retailers support and highlight African American brands, promoting inclusiveness and combating systemic racism.
