Francesco Carrozzini, an Italian-born photographer and filmmaker, always dreamed of moving to Los Angeles and making it his home. In 2017, he found the perfect spot—a Hollywood Regency property with a rich design history, originally built and later remodeled by the famous architect John Elgin Woolf. This stylish home was a great fit for Carrozzini, especially considering his late mother, Franca Sozzani, was a major influence in fashion as the editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia.
Carrozzini shared with Architectural Digest that he bought the house from hotelier Sean MacPherson just before marrying his partner, Bee Shaffer. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Oliver, in October. Carrozzini has carefully restored the home’s parquet floors and white-painted wooden ceilings, and he revamped the living room to include cozy library nooks and built-in bookcases.
Given their strong ties to the fashion and photography worlds, the couple’s home is decorated with original works by renowned artists like Mario Testino, Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Robert Capa, Thomas Struth, and Man Ray. Carrozzini spent a whole month just choosing the perfect shade of white paint for the home. He emphasized that the project was about preserving the original architecture rather than making major changes, ensuring every choice was thoughtfully made. Proudly, he mentioned that the house is now recognized as an L.A. landmark.
