Founder and designer Anifa Mvuemba is making waves with her latest Fall/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear brand, Hanifa. Her groundbreaking designs are setting new standards in the fashion industry.

Called “It Girl,” her newest collection features essential pieces with vibrant colors, bold prints, and feminine silhouettes. Alongside her ready-to-wear line, Hanifa also offers beautiful bridal wear and stylish handbags.

Mvuemba started her collection in 2012 and has come a long way, becoming a favorite among celebrities and fashion lovers. The platform “Fashion Bomb Daily” played a big role in Hanifa’s early success by promoting the brand to its primary audience of black women. Mvuemba appreciates the impact FBD had on her brand’s visibility and growth.

Drawing inspiration from New York City’s diverse concrete jungle, Anifa’s collection uses animal prints and textures to reflect the city’s vibrancy. Although she initially planned to showcase her collection at New York Fashion Week, a scheduling issue led her to host an independent event instead. The theme “It-Girl” represents her identity as a black woman and designer thriving in a challenging industry.

Despite the barriers to diversity at New York Fashion Week, Anifa has brought her dreams to life. Her brand has attracted high-profile fans like Michelle Obama, Beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Cardi B, proving its widespread acclaim.

Yesmin Anthony, Hanifa’s COO, admires Anifa’s ability to excel both creatively and as a businesswoman. Looking ahead, Anifa envisions owning a department store entirely featuring her lifestyle brand in the next five years. “My God is BIG, so why would I think small?” she confidently states.
