Designer Jason Wu has wowed the fashion world once again with his stunning creations. For his Spring 2025 collection, showcased during New York Fashion Week, Wu teamed up with 82-year-old Taiwanese calligrapher Tong Yang-Tze.
The Hudson Yards garden featured a black structural backdrop as models walked the runway in abstract, textural clothes that set new trends. Reflecting today’s times, the collection included unfinished hems and deconstructed silhouettes, hinting at the adaptability and openness to new directions.
Wu drew inspiration from Yang-Tze, famous for her large-scale calligraphic pieces in black cursive script. This influence was clear on Wu’s neutral-toned garments. The clothes featured free-form writing, combined with sheer fabrics and pleats, showcasing Wu’s rebellious spirit in a sophisticated way.
True to his belief that details matter and simplicity holds beauty, the collection also featured clean lines and soft pastels, paired with flatform sandals. Brown emerged as a staple color for both the upcoming fall and Spring 2025, with oversized textural suits and avant-garde maxi dresses catching the eye.
Adding contrast, black trench coats with white writing were part of the lineup, emphasizing Wu’s departure from traditional techniques and his commitment to innovation.
Over the years, the New York-based designer has built a strong reputation for sustainability in a fast-changing market. His unique style and bold creativity highlight his incredible talent and originality.
