Could Sha’Carri Richardson be the next big thing like Flo-Jo with her remarkable skills and unique fashion sense? Maybe, and during the 2024 Olympics, her stylish nails caught everyone’s attention.
Sha’Carri Richardson, the sprinter famous for her eye-catching manicures, showed off patriotic-themed coffin and stiletto nails. These were specially made by New York nail artist Kelly Phan, who’s been featured in top magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Richardson chose Phan to create a variety of press-on nail sets for her Olympic appearance.
For the Opening Ceremony, Phan designed Richardson’s nails using red, white, and blue to celebrate American pride. The set was detailed with the American flag, embellished French tips, and sparkling jewels. Besides matching the US team’s colors, Phan also reflected Richardson’s vibrant personal style with a bright neon and colorful set for the 100m semi-finals, complete with beads and gemstones forming a mosaic design.
Phan’s dedication to manicuring shines through her creative and dazzling designs. While her second set for Richardson was bold and bright, her third set was more subdued, featuring purple and lavender tones. Richardson was seen with these nails in a prayerful pose before winning the silver medal in the 100m final, and they matched perfectly with the USA’s track and field uniforms.
For Richardson’s last set, Phan went all out with a golden, tiger-tip design with gold studs on a nude base. This final look was meant to symbolize victory, and fittingly, Richardson won the gold in the Women’s 4x100m Relay. She was seen sporting her fourth set of nails at the Men’s Basketball Olympic Games Final, sitting alongside celebrities like Jimmy Fallon and Carmelo Anthony.
Kelly Phan has definitely made her mark as an extraordinary manicurist. Each unique nail design she created for Sha’Carri Richardson was nothing short of iconic, showcasing her incredible talent in creating architectural and standout styles.
