Kamala Harris is more relatable than we might have thought. She shared her secrets on maintaining her silk press, a term in the Black community for straightening textured hair. Knowing that the Vice President enjoys a silk press as her go-to style is quite comforting.
Keke Palmer visited the White House to interview VP Harris for her podcast, “Baby, This is Keke Palmer,” and she didn’t miss the chance to ask about the silk press. Palmer asked Harris how often she gets a silk press each month.
To everyone’s surprise, the Vice President revealed she doesn’t always use heated styling tools to straighten her hair. Instead, she uses a round brush with some heat to keep it straight.
Palmer also mentioned that she and another well-known figure famous for their silk press, Queen Latifah, are in a friendly competition for the best hair. She told Harris, “You and Queen Latifah are going neck and neck!”
