Rapper JT, formally known as Jatavia Shakara Johnson, has started her solo career and is quickly proving herself to be a standout talent. After taking a break from the ‘City Girls,’ where she performed alongside Yung Miami, JT has released singles such as “No Bars” and “Sideways,” showcasing her strong lyrical skills.
Beginning her solo tour on March 23 at The Sekai in Houston, Texas, JT impressed fans with her performance. Notably, at The Garden in Dallas, she wowed the crowd in a stunning cream fur coat from Marni’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, exuding both futuristic style and sophistication.
Celebrating Marni’s 30th anniversary, creative director Francesco Risso brought in daring silhouettes and sophisticated prints, including the ice-age furs like the coat JT wore. JT’s admiration for luxury designers is well known, and her lyrics in “No Bars” highlight this passion:
“Shut Marni down for some furry slides,
Look him in his eyes and tell him dirty lies,
Cop me Chanel, thirty times,
The price on this Kelly say I’m hella paid,
Crocodile Birkin from the Everglades.”
For her makeup, JT chose a smokey eyeshadow look with contoured cheekbones and a metallic-lined lip, topped off with an updo ponytail that had a swoop bang reminiscent of Aaliyah. Her accessories included a diamond cross necklace, matching stud earrings, and a septum nose ring.
She completed her outfit with black Marni FW24 ‘Gio Forbice’ boots featuring a modern round toe, looking chic and contemporary. JT’s look at the event was both fashionable and impressive, and we eagerly anticipate her continued success in her solo rap career.
