We’re in a new age where digital health care is now accessible, and ‘Culture Care’ offers telemedicine by connecting Black doctors with Black women. At the Essence Fest, the ‘Culture Care’ booth highlighted the significant disparities in the U.S. healthcare system, especially for women of color.
Our Fashion Bomb CEO, Claire Sulmers, was present and discussed her personal experiences with healthcare shortcomings while advocating for equal healthcare. Sulmers emphasized that proper healthcare should not be a luxury and praised ‘Culture Care’ for providing Black women the chance to consult with Black doctors who understand them, at an affordable rate.
Dr. Joy A. Cooper, known as the Olivia Pope of ObGyn, spoke about the critical issues of maternal health and mortality in the Black community due to medical field discrimination. She pointed out that Black women are more likely to die during pregnancy and have higher rates of asthma and heart disease compared to other races.
It’s a fact that prejudice exists in our healthcare system. For Black women, it’s crucial to have a team of Black doctors who can offer top-notch care. Did you know that 79% of Black women are overweight or obese? This excessive weight increases the risks of heart disease, hypertension, liver disease, and diabetes. It’s important to recognize the need for change, adopt healthy eating, and incorporate exercise into daily routines.
On CultureCare.com, Black women can receive straightforward, virtual health advice with the goal of improving their wellbeing. Whether you need care for fertility, fibroids, therapy, or postpartum issues, doctors like Aaliyah Hodge, Stephanie Brown, and Joy A. Cooper are ready to assist you from the comfort of your own home.
With healthcare so accessible, there’s no reason not to take action if you need it. Even without insurance, everyone pays the same to see the ‘Culture Care’ physicians. This year, focus on your health as an act of self-love. You can make an appointment in California, NY, or PA and get 30% off this summer with the code CLAIRE30 in celebration of Essence’s 30th festival.
