Born on September 29, 1975, in Altadena, California, Waraire, also known as “BOZ,” died on July 31, 2024, after facing a private struggle. Despite his challenges, he continued to share his remarkable designs with the world.
In a touching Instagram post, his family shared that Waraire never let his circumstances stop him from pursuing his design mission. He believed creating the perfect suit was much like life—it might not be perfect, but you can control how it fits you.
Before his career took off, Waraire studied Radio and Television Film at California State University, Northridge. He began working at United Talent Agency and the William Morris Agency. Standing at 6’7″, Waraire struggled to find suits that fit, so he started designing his own. His custom suits quickly gained popularity among his peers and entertainment executives.
In 2002, Waraire launched his own brand, “WARAIRE BOSWELL,” offering both custom and ready-to-wear garments. He catered to professional athletes, including NBA stars like Kobe Bryant, Tristan Thompson, and Kevin Durant. His dedication to excellence was evident in everything from tailored suits to sportswear, making a significant impact globally.
Waraire’s attention to detail and craftsmanship earned him numerous accolades, including the Mercedes Benz Classic Designer of the Year in 2005. He also revamped McDonald’s employee uniforms in 2017 and collaborated with brands like Nike, American Express, and Fear of God. His work appeared in major fashion magazines such as Vogue, GQ, and Vanity Fair.
Waraire viewed the world as an artist, finding beauty everywhere and thinking outside the box. Whether using the finest fabrics or upcycling from second-hand stores, he expertly designed clothes that met functional needs while exuding style and grace. His innovative approach set a new standard in the fashion industry.
