The theme of “To Be Celebrated” was the highlight of The Black Excellence Brunch, hosted by Trell Thomas on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles. Celebrities often get the spotlight for their achievements, but the people behind their success usually don’t receive the same recognition. Thomas changed that by creating an event where celebrities could honor the loved ones who have supported them throughout their journey.
Actress and TV host Niecey Nash attended the brunch wearing a custom nude off-the-shoulder bodycon dress. She celebrated her wife, Jessica Betts, who chose an outfit by Richfresh. Nash expressed her gratitude to Betts in a heartfelt speech, saying how much Betts has encouraged her since they met.
Kyla Pratt also made an appearance in a burnt orange Steve Madden wrap dress to celebrate her mother, who has been her biggest supporter in Hollywood.
Claire Sulmers, the CEO of Fashion Bomb, flew back from Paris Fashion Week for the event. She wore a nude sequined dress from ZCRAVE, complete with a snakeskin leather trench coat and matching thigh-high boots.
Sulmers interviewed several attendees, including New York Times bestselling author Tabitha Brown, who wore a stunning all-white outfit with a rhinestone-embellished Je T’aime shirt and blazer, plus stylish sunglasses. Sulmers also chatted with Niecey Nash, TV personality Kendall Kyndall, celebrity hairstylist Bernon Francois, and Joey Harris.
